| The Revelstoke
Chamber of Commerce has had an extremely busy year working hard on
behalf of our members and community. The Government Affairs Committee
spent a great deal of time lobbying all levels of government on various
issues including: Wildlife and Commercial Backcountry Recreation
Guidelines, the Softwood Lumber Agreement, and upgrading of the Trans-Canada
Highway.
The Chamber Film Liaison office
responded to requests for assistance from various media productions:
- BCTV News
Hour
- Chrysler
TV Car commercial
- Disney
Productions
- Toyota Car
commercial location
- Volvo
still commercial
- Avalanche
Hunter Productions
- Double
Black Diamond Productions TV show.
A
complete convention package was produced with a full colour glossy
brochure to use as a marketing tool to encourage organizations to hold
their events in Revelstoke. The Chamber compiled 1,418 packages for
conventions and events which took place in town.
Again last year the Chamber
organized retail promotions, the Home and Garden Show, Light-up
Revelstoke Contest, Santa Claus Parade, and the All Candidates Forum for
the Federal Election.
The
Tourism Development Office also had a very successful year in 2000. The
website was updated and there were a total of 183,308 individual visitors
to the site. That is a 225% increase over 1999. The Revelstoke CD-ROM was
launched with excellent feedback. Tourism marketing was done in various
magazines and trade shows. New city maps, hiking brochure, and biking
brochure were produced. The Tourism Development Coordinator assisted with
the Raid the North Extreme Race, the Tourism BC Road Show and various
travel writers to promote our community.
The Revelstoke
Chamber of Commerce would like to thank their members, volunteers, and the
City for their contribution in making 2000 a success.
