Chamber of Commerce Activities
Tourism Development Coordinator:
The Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce is proud to have Aaron Swaine as our new Tourism Development Coordinator. Anyone interested in advertising on our website, in our Visitor's Guide or in one of the community kiosks, give Aaron a call at the Chamber office. Aaron is also working on a Calendar of Events poster which should be printed by the end of June. The poster will be available at the Chamber office.

Film Commission:
The Barber Productions finished filming in Revelstoke in May and we are looking forward to seeing the completed movie. It is estimated that the production spent more than $430,000 in Revelstoke. Since the completion of The Barber, the Chamber has received location requests for one major motion picture and two UK TV shows. At this time it is not confirmed if they will be shooting in Revelstoke.
Visitor Information:
The Visitor Information Centre on the Trans Canada Highway opened May 1st and has a great inventory of local and provincial brochures and maps. Chamber members are able to rack their brochures and business cards free of charge. So if we don't already have your information drop into our office and we can help you promote your business.

The number of visitors at both our downtown and highway locations was up for the month of May by 40% over last year. We are seeing a lot of U.K. and German visitors again this year.

BC Chamber:
Rita Stacey, Chamber President, and Adelheid Bender, Chamber Executive Director, recently attended the BC Chamber of Commerce Conference and AGM. The conference included sessions on policy issues dealing with the Softwood Lumber dispute with the U.S., deregulation in the energy sector, doing business with First Nations, too few skilled workers in the province, customer services, and is BC open for business.

The Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce received Honourable Mention for the Chamber of the Year Award for the entire province. The award was due to the dedication and hard work of our members, board of directors, and staff.

Members of the Board and the Executive Director will be going to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM and Conference in September to support resolutions and policies that will benefit our businesses and community.

The Chamber of Commerce wishes you all an enjoyable and prosperous summer.
