Through community based planning sessions, many ideas are identified that help remove barriers to entrepreneurship, provide the infrastructure necessary to support new and expanding businesses, and create opportunities for members of the community to discuss issues related to our local economy. This year a new community strategic action plan was prepared to blend social and economic values for long term sustainability. One objective of the economic sector is to pursue 'high tech' business opportunities. CFDC in partnership with Okanagan University College is preparing a feasibility study for deployment of, and access to, broadband infrastructure in the Revelstoke area.

Another key recommendation of the strategy is to increase the number of businesses in the community. CFDC is looking for innovative ideas for projects that will help

Revelstoke attract new employers or encourage existing businesses to expand their operations. If you have an idea for stimulating economic activity, please do consider sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.

Volunteers participate on project steering committees to ensure that the community's interests are best served. If you are interested in getting involved in a special project, CFDC is always looking for enthusiastic committee members. Committees are supported with staff dedicated to assist with project research, planning, administration and implementation.

Community Futures is desirous of starting at least one new project this year that will help build a stronger community to promote a healthy and prosperous business climate.
