Chamber of Commerce Activities
Another summer is over and the Chamber of Commerce just closed the satellite Visitor InfoCentre on the highway. This year that the number of visitors dropping into the InfoCentre on the highway was down over last year, but statistics for those dropping in to our downtown office is up over last year. It seems our marketing efforts have influenced more visitors to come into downtown to discover what we are all about. The Chamber will be attending two winter trade shows this fall, one in Edmonton and the other in Washington, as well as continue to purchase advertising in various publications and printing the Revelstoke Vacation Planner.

This year, during Small Business Week the Chamber will be hosting the Revelstoke Academy Awards. The banquet will be at the Catholic Church Hall October 26th where the Lion's Club will present the Citizen of the Year Award and the Chamber will present the Business Excellence Award, the Community Support Award, the Entrepreneur of the Year

Award, the Home Based Business of the Year Award and the Service Excellence Award. This should be a fun evening with entertainment, door prizes, and silent auction. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the Chamber office.

Santa Claus Parade - no it's not too early to think about Christmas. The parade will be December 8 and start at 4 pm. The theme this year is "Lights, Bells, & Music." Think about entering a float in the parade for your business or organization. Contact the Chamber for further details. The Retail Committee is now starting to plan Christmas promotions for this season.

The Chamber Government Affairs committee continues to work on the Softwood Lumber and Caribou/Land Use issues. Through our membership in the BC Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce we are able to keep up to date with government issues and respond to issues of concern to our community. If you have any issues or concerns please contact the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce office.
